On Saturday, July 2nd , I got to see Vanja in action in the show ring at the Bushy Run Kennel Club. I've known this dog for many months, and I've seen a lot of different sides of him, but I was amazed at his performance. He was “on” that day. He was so beautiful and graceful, and the judge saw it. He took Best of Breed and Best of Winners in the Borzoi ring, and then snatched 2nd place in the Hound Group. I'm glad I had the chance to be there to see him take his first Best of Breed. I feel like a proud grandmother.

Then on July 23rd Vanja finished and became an American Champion at the Medina Kennel Club show in Medina, OH . He is only the second Russian import Borzoi to achieve an American Championship, and the only one to achieve a quadruple championship and have hunting titles. You can bet his mommy is very happy! His full name with titles is now - Rus. Ukr. Mold. Amer. CH Vlastelin Udachi Is Podnebesija FT hare, fox CGC TDI. Say that 10 times fast.
